What types of exercises will I be doing?

This question is not always easy to answer as we try and tailor each holiday’s exercises to the individuals attending.  However as a rough guide they are likely to be a mixture of the below.

Group exercises:

This type of session is carried out with the rest of the group - hence the name :o)  Walking, cycling, rowing and hill hiking are all examples of the kind of things we do as a group.  The Corrour estate really is perfect for this type of activity as the views and peacefulness make the exercises feel so much easier.

All the group sessions are designed around the individuals and we make sure no one feels left out - one of the main reasons we take such small numbers.

BENEFITS: Decreased blood pressure, Boosts your mood, uses lot’s of kcals - the basic of weight loss, increases your stamina, strengthens your heart and respiratory system, lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and improves your general health and well being.

Pairs exercises sessions:

 

These sessions normally take place in the afternoon and are great way to work slightly harder whilst still having fun with another person of equal ability - this helps to ensure you both get a great workout.  The pairs sessions might be things like run/walks, circuits and resistance sessions and as before are structured to the individuals on the holiday.  The idea behind these sessions is to introduce you to resistance type exercises which most people associate with ‘toning’.

 

BENEFITS:  Increased strength - particularly increased bone, tendon and ligament strength, decreased body fat, increased metabolic rate - very important for weight loss, helps to protect you from osteoporosis, improves muscle tone  and even lowers bad cholesterol.
