has a very positive effect on yourself and your new baby. Below are just a few of
the health benefits:
Reduce maternal weight gain and fat accumulation
A study found that on average women who exercised throughout their pregnancy were
8 lbs lighter.
Improved circulation
This helps to reduce things like varicose veins.
Enhanced muscular balance
This leads to less problems with back aches and general soreness associated with
postural changes that occur throughout the pregnancy.
Pre and post natal Exercise
Less anxiety and better body image
Women who exercised regularly throughout their pregnancy were happier, slept better
and had a more positive view of their bodies.
Faster and easier delivery
Women that continued to exercise throughout their pregnancy were found to have a
shorter 2nd stage (pushing) of labour. The study showed that for women continuing
to exercise it averaged 27 mins and for those that stopped in early pregnancy it
was 59 mins!
