The idea of the 12 week course is to help people to manage their weight more successfully. We believe that the primary reason why people often fail to succeed with weight management is down to not knowing what to do – quite simply a lack of knowledge, resources or education. There is a vast amount of often conflicting and misleading information in this area and the course hopes to help people separate the fact from fiction.
The course content is broken down into 3 elements – psychology, nutrition and exercise – all these parts are combined into a course manual or workbook.
Each week the participants will work through the course manual and via a Q+A style session will answer the questions for each section – thus ensuring the topic is covered fully and everyone understands the principles. These ‘discussion’ sessions are paramount to the course and prove a lot more enjoyable than people first think.
in addition to the Q+A sessions we also carry out demonstrations, workshops and trips
to help highlight certain details of the course -
In addition to this education we feel that people gain a real benefit from the extra help and support during the early stages of this change process and think that 12 weeks with the instructor gives them the best kick start possible.
Both during the course and at the end we will set the group challenges to keep them motivated and perhaps more importantly, to show them what they are actually capable of. An example might be at around week 6 a long walk in the Peak District with perhaps a mountain hike at the end of the course. These challenges work very well on our residential courses and help people to see just what they are a capable of achieving.
